500 W SFX power supply for compact builds

The Silverstone SST-EX500-B is a 500 W SFX unit that fits small-form-factor desktops and servers. An included bracket also allows installation in standard ATX cases. It targets builders who need reliable 24/7 power in a tight chassis without stepping up to larger ATX dimensions. Buyers who require higher wattage or redundant supplies should look elsewhere.

18 dBA minimum noise at 40 °C ambient

A 92 mm fan delivers a minimum noise level of 18 dBA while maintaining airflow at up to 40 °C operating temperature. The single +12 V rail design provides stable power for demanding components. 80 PLUS Bronze certification confirms efficient conversion that reduces waste heat and lowers electricity draw during normal use. Japanese primary capacitors contribute to long-term reliability.

SFX-to-ATX bracket and flexible cables included

The bundled bracket lets the SFX unit mount securely in ATX bays, expanding case compatibility. Thin, soft cables simplify routing in cramped interiors and improve airflow. Both PCIe 8-pin and 6-pin connectors are provided for modern graphics cards. No software or monitoring utilities are mentioned in the specifications.

Questions about this item

How do I install the SST-EX500-B in an ATX case, and what step is often missed?

Mount the unit using the included ATX bracket, then connect the 24-pin ATX, 8-pin EPS, PCIe 8-pin and PCIe 6-pin cables; the step often missed is securing the bracket screws before routing cables.

What maintenance will the 92 mm fan need over time?

The 92 mm fan runs as quiet as 18 dBA; clean dust from its blades and intake vents every 12 months to keep airflow and noise at spec.

What limit appears first when the supply runs at 500 W continuously at 40 °C?

The 80 PLUS Bronze efficiency target is the first limit; sustained full load at 40 °C keeps the unit at its rated 500 W 24/7 output without exceeding thermal design.
