8 GB DDR2 kit for AM2 systems

This kit provides 8 GB of DDR2 memory in four 2 GB modules that run at 667 MHz with PC2-5400 and PC2-5300 ratings. The 240-pin DIMMs are built for desktop platforms that use the AM2 socket and are validated for the Biostar TFORCE TA790GX A2+ motherboard. It suits owners of legacy AMD systems who need the maximum supported capacity.

Sustained load behaviour

Under continuous operation the modules maintain their rated 667 MHz speed without dropping to lower frequencies. The four-stick configuration fills every slot on typical AM2 boards, so the memory controller runs at full population load. Builders who need more than 8 GB or who want higher bandwidth for modern workloads should look elsewhere.

Questions about this item

How much heat or power does the DDR2 kit draw when running continuously?

DDR2 DIMMs at 667 MHz are low-power modules with no active cooling, so they add minimal heat inside a desktop case.

What motherboard slot and chipset are required for this 4 × 2 GB kit to work?

You need a desktop board with four 240-pin DDR2 slots and a chipset that supports PC2-5300 or PC2-5400 speeds, such as the Biostar TA790GX A2+.
