This Simmtec kit supplies 8GB of desktop memory as four 2GB DDR2 DIMMs. The modules use a 240-pin interface and run at 667Mhz with PC2 5400 and PC2 5300 ratings. They are validated for the DFI LANPARTY 790FX-M2RS motherboard.

Builders restoring an AM2 platform

The four-module layout fills every slot on the target board, so buyers who need to keep slots open for later expansion should look elsewhere. Systems that require a different memory generation, a higher clock speed, or a non-240-pin form factor cannot use this kit.

Questions about this item

How do I install the 4 x 2GB DDR2 DIMMs into the 240-pin slots on the DFI LANPARTY 790FX-M2RS, and what step is often missed?

Power off the system, open the case, align each module's notch with the 240-pin slot key, press down firmly until both side clips click, then populate all four slots for the full 8GB capacity.

What maintenance or replacement will the DDR2 memory need over time?

DDR2 modules have no moving parts and require no scheduled servicing; swap a stick only if memory diagnostics report errors or the system becomes unstable.
