7-inch cast iron floor drain cover

The Sioux Chief 846-S15PK is a 7-inch diameter cast iron grate designed to cover floor drains in residential or light commercial settings. It is painted black and built for walking traffic only, making it suitable for bathrooms, basements or utility rooms where a durable replacement cover is needed.

Installation requires exact measurement

The cover fits only drains measuring exactly 7 inches; even a 1/16-inch difference will prevent proper fit. No tools are required beyond removing the old grate, but verifying the diameter before ordering is essential because drain covers are not standardised across manufacturers.

Sustained load limited to foot traffic

Under continuous use the grate supports only pedestrian weight and is not rated for wheeled loads or heavy equipment. The 1/4-inch thick cast iron resists deformation from daily footfall, while the painted finish withstands routine moisture exposure without structural degradation.

Questions about this item

How can I confirm the grate fits correctly after placing it in the drain opening?

The cover should sit flush with the finished floor and measure exactly 7 inches across; any gap or wobble means the opening is not a true 7-inch size.

What comes in the package and is any additional hardware required?

The box contains the 7-inch cast iron grate painted black at 1/4 inch thickness; no bolts, frames or sealant are included.

Which version should I choose if my existing cover measures exactly 7 inches in diameter?

Select the 846-S15PK model; it is manufactured for a precise 7-inch opening and will not suit covers that are 1/16 inch larger or smaller.
