Heavy-duty steel tripod supports EQ6 and Wave mounts with adjustable height from 28 to 48 inches (71.1 to 121.9 cm)
The Sky-Watcher EQ6 Wave steel tripod provides a rigid platform for Wave mounts, NEQ6, EQ6, EQ6-R and AZ-EQ6 mounts. Its 2-inch steel legs and black-trim finish are built to support larger optical tube assemblies without flex. Astronomers who need a permanent or semi-permanent pier alternative will find the heavy-duty construction suited to long-exposure imaging. Buyers who require a lightweight carbon-fibre tripod for frequent travel should look elsewhere.
The tripod extends from 28 inches (71.1 cm) to 48 inches (121.9 cm), allowing observers to set a comfortable eyepiece height whether seated or standing. Leg locks secure each section firmly so the chosen height holds steady throughout a session. The wide stance and steel mass dampen ground vibrations that can blur planetary detail. No motorised or automated levelling features are included.
A separately sold Wave pier adapter mounts directly to the tripod head, creating a permanent-style pier without concrete work. The 2-inch diameter steel legs resist bending even when loaded with heavy refractors or Newtonians. Black trim protects the silver finish from scratches during repeated setup and breakdown. Users who need a quick-release leg mechanism or integrated bubble level will not find them on this model.

Extend each 2-inch steel leg to a height between 28 and 48 inches, then lock the leg clamps firmly; the step many users miss is ensuring all three legs are level before mounting the Wave pier adapter or EQ6 head.
Periodically check the leg-lock clamps and centre-column bolt for tightness, wipe the silver-painted steel legs with a dry cloth to prevent corrosion, and reapply light grease to the sliding leg tubes if they become stiff.
The maximum height of 48 inches (121.9 cm) is the first physical limit reached; beyond that the tripod cannot be raised further without adding a pier extension.
