Without the bracket the counterweight cannot be attached and the balance benefit is lost. Buyers who do not already have a compatible Dec. Bracket must obtain one before this kit can be used.

The kit enables the mount to handle popular 200, 300, or 400mm lenses paired with heavy full-frame cameras. Balancing these longer focal lengths keeps star trails round during guided exposures. The practical limit is the 11 lb total payload rating; exceeding it will degrade tracking accuracy. Photographers using lenses heavier than this combined weight limit will need a higher-capacity mount instead.
