Smartphone side handle with wireless control

The SmallRig 3838 is a lightweight aluminium-alloy grip that pairs a rechargeable SR WR-02 remote module to iPhone and Android phones for instant record start and stop. It mounts to SmallRig cages 3561, 3562, 3734 and universal cage 3563, adding a cold shoe on top for a microphone or LED light. Weighing 3.98 oz, it is built for mobile creators who want steadier handheld footage without a full cage rig.

Capacity and headroom

The remote delivers up to 20000 trigger events on one charge and reconnects automatically in milliseconds, so a full day of interview or vlog shooting is well within range. It draws negligible power between shots, but the module cannot drive focus-pull motors or control zoom on phones that lack native Bluetooth camera APIs. Users needing multi-camera sync or programmable time-lapse intervals will find no such functions here.

Cold shoe and cage integration

The integrated cold shoe lets you bolt a compact microphone or fill light directly onto the handle, keeping the rig centre-weighted and cable-free. Because the handle locks to the listed SmallRig cages with a single thumbscrew, swapping between horizontal and vertical orientation takes seconds. No additional mounting plates, Allen keys or firmware updates are required to use the shoe or the wireless module.
