What it is and who it is for

The SMUGDESK 140W adapter converts a USB-C power source into a MagSafe 3 connector for MacBook Pro and Air models from 2021 to 2024. It suits owners of 14-inch and 16-inch Pro or 13-inch and 15-inch Air laptops who want to use existing USB-C chargers. Buyers needing a direct MagSafe cable or higher wattage than 140W will not be served by this adapter.

Practical limits of the USB-C to MagSafe 3 interface

The adapter passes up to 140W from a USB-C port to the magnetic MagSafe 3 tip, matching the peak requirement of supported MacBooks. It does not increase the output of the connected charger, so a lower-rated USB-C brick will still limit charging speed. Data transfer and video output are not supported through this MagSafe connection.

Build quality and daily carry implications

A built-in lanyard keeps the small adapter tethered to a bag or strap, reducing the chance of loss during travel. The magnetic tip maintains Apple’s original safety disconnect, pulling free cleanly if the cable is snagged. Its lightweight construction adds negligible bulk, making it practical for daily commutes or desk setups.
