2-in-1 Wireless CarPlay Adapter

The SMUGDESK adapter converts a factory wired CarPlay system into a wireless connection for both iPhone and Android phones. It supports Wireless CarPlay and Wireless Android Auto with one-click switching between the two platforms. The device is designed for drivers who want to remove cable clutter while keeping access to navigation, music, calls and voice control on the vehicle display. It requires a car with built-in wired CarPlay to function.

Plug-and-play installation and automatic linking

No extra drivers or apps are needed; simply connect the dongle to the car USB port and pair the phone via Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. The adapter automatically re-establishes the wireless link within 5-10 seconds each time the vehicle is started. One-touch switching lets occupants change between an iPhone and an Android device without re-pairing. This simplicity suits owners who share the car or regularly alternate phones.

Compatibility covering 1200+ models with OS minimums

The 2024 upgrade extends support to more than 1200 car models, iPhone 6 or later running iOS 10 or above, and Android smartphones with Android Auto on Android 11 or higher. Vehicles without factory wired CarPlay cannot use the adapter, and phones below those OS versions will not connect. Buyers needing support for older operating systems or cars lacking wired CarPlay will find this unit unsuitable.

Questions about this item

Does the adapter need firmware updates to stay compatible with new phones?

The adapter pairs via Bluetooth and Wi-Fi each start-up; no driver or app installation is mentioned, so ongoing firmware maintenance is not described.

What limits continuous operation during long drives?

The unit draws power from the car's USB port and relies on the vehicle's wired CarPlay system; sustained use is limited by that power and data link.

How much heat or noise does the dongle produce when running all day?

The compact white dongle has no fan or moving parts; it stays cool and silent while converting wired CarPlay to wireless during extended trips.
