What the cable does

This SMUGDESK three-pack provides USB 3.0 A male to female extension cables each measuring 1.64 ft. They extend the reach between a computer or tablet and peripherals such as keyboards, mice, printers, flash drives and external hard drives. The cables are backward compatible with USB 2.0 and 1.1 devices.

Shielding and speed in use

High-quality shielding minimises radio and electromagnetic interference during data transfers. The cables support super-speed rates up to 5 Gbps, which is 10 times faster than USB 2.0, while remaining fully backward compatible. Gold-plated, corrosion-resistant connectors maintain maximum conductivity without signal loss.

Build and daily handling

A durable braided jacket protects the internal tinned-copper conductors from wear. Upgraded connectors fit snugly yet allow easy plugging and unplugging for frequent reconnection. The 1.64 ft length suits desktop setups where ports are slightly out of reach, though longer runs would require a different cable.

Questions about this item

How do I connect the USB 3.0 A male plug to my computer and the A female port to my device?

Insert the male connector into the host USB port and the peripheral cable into the female end; the upgraded connector fits snugly so push firmly until it clicks to avoid a loose link.

Will the gold-plated connectors or braided jacket need any upkeep over time?

The corrosion-resistant gold plating and tough braided sheath are designed for years of service with no user maintenance required.

What limits the 5 Gbps transfer rate during long file copies?

Cable length and signal integrity cap sustained throughput; the 1.64 ft length keeps loss low, but total bus bandwidth and device speed also govern real-world rate.
