What this cable does

This USB4 Gen 3x2 cable delivers up to 40Gbps bi-directional data transfer and 240W power delivery using USB Power Delivery 3.1 Extended Power Range. It connects two USB-C devices with reversible male connectors and supports 8K@60Hz or dual 4K@60Hz display output. Thunderbolt 4 and Thunderbolt 3 compatibility is built in.

Who it suits and who it does not

Professionals moving large media files between USB4 or Thunderbolt 4 hosts and storage will use the full 40Gbps bandwidth. Users charging a 140W or 240W laptop from a matching EPR charger get the rated power. Buyers whose devices only support USB 3.2 or earlier will not reach the maximum data rate or the highest power levels.

Capacity and headroom

The cable handles single 8K@60Hz or dual 4K@60Hz video streams and daisy-chains up to six Thunderbolt 3 devices. It negotiates 48V at 240W when both charger and device support PD 3.1 EPR, and falls back to 180W, 140W, 100W or 60W as required. Bandwidth drops to the host controller limit when connected to USB 3.2, 3.1 or 2.0 ports.
