Socket Mobile D720 1D Scanner

The Socket Mobile D720 is a handheld 1D barcode scanner designed for retail and light warehouse workflows. It reads linear barcodes on paper labels and mobile screens. The red housing makes the unit easy to spot on a busy counter. Workers who need 2D code capture should choose a different imager.

USB cable limits mobility to tethered range

The scanner ships with a USB cable that provides both data and charging. Cable length fixes the working radius, so the operator must stay close to the host terminal. No wireless radio is included, so untethered scanning is not possible. Plan the workstation layout around the physical cable reach.

Plug the cable and scan immediately

Connect the USB cable to the host computer and the scanner is ready without driver installation on most operating systems. The rechargeable battery arrives pre-installed, so no battery door or orientation step is required. A wrist strap attaches to a molded loop to reduce drops. Misreading usually comes from holding the scanner too far from the barcode or at a steep angle.

Questions about this item

Which model number should I pick, CX4055-3118 or CX4059-3122?

CX4055-3118 is the order code for the D720 scanner in red with a pre-installed lithium-ion battery, USB cable and wrist strap.

What does the 1D scan engine mean for daily checkout use?

The 1D engine reads standard linear barcodes such as UPC and EAN on product labels, but it will not capture 2D codes like QR or Data Matrix.

How does the USB cable connection limit the scanner's range?

The scanner plugs directly into a host USB port, so the operator stays tethered to the terminal within the cable's length.
