The SonicWall SWS12-8POE is a desktop-format managed switch with 8 Gigabit RJ45 ports and 2 SFP slots. It suits small offices or branch deployments that need PoE for access points, phones or cameras. The single specification that decides fit is the 55 W total PoE budget across the 8 RJ45 ports. Each port can deliver up to 30 W, but the shared budget means you cannot run every port at maximum simultaneously. Count the wattage of every PoE device you plan to connect; if the sum exceeds 55 W this switch will not support the full load.

65 W adapter and SFP slots add flexibility

The included 65 W power adapter supplies both the switch and its PoE budget from a single wall outlet. Two SFP slots accept fibre or copper transceivers for uplinks or long-distance links beyond copper reach. No transceivers are bundled, so they must be sourced separately for the expansion ports.
