Dual-Slot AJA PAK Media Reader

The Sonnet SF3 Series 2-Bay AJA PAK Media Thunderbolt 3 Pro Card Reader is a certified accessory for AJA Video Systems workflows. It targets multicam live event production, documentaries, news, and sports programming where rapid offload from two PAK Media SSD cards is required. The device pairs with recorders like the Ki Pro Ultra 12G to match the cards' full ingest capability. It is not for users of other card formats or single-slot ingest needs.

Desktop Setup With Daisy-Chain Ports

Installation is straightforward: connect the reader to any computer with a Thunderbolt 3 or Thunderbolt 4 port using the supplied cable. Two Thunderbolt ports on the rear allow daisy-chaining additional peripherals or a display without a separate dock. The compact, rugged enclosure is stackable and rackable for fixed installations.

Sustained Dual-Card Throughput

Under continuous load the reader ingests from both slots simultaneously at up to 1030 MB/s aggregate bandwidth via its PCIe 3.0 x4 Thunderbolt connection. This supports four channels of 1080p at 60 fps or single-channel 4K at 60 fps recording offload without throttling. The aluminium housing acts as a heatsink to maintain these speeds during extended sessions. Apple M1 and M2 series Macs and Intel Macs are supported.

Questions about this item

How can I confirm the reader is ingesting at full speed after connecting it?

The reader is certified by AJA and supports up to 1030 MB/s aggregate throughput across both slots; verify transfer rates in your NLE or file browser during offload.

What cables or accessories are included and what must I provide?

The unit includes two Thunderbolt ports for daisy-chaining; a compatible Thunderbolt 3 or 4 cable to your host computer is not included and must be purchased separately.

Which version should I choose for 4K 60 fps single-channel or 1080p 60 fps four-channel workflows?

This single model handles both — four channels of 1080p at 60 fps or one 4K 60 fps stream — so no alternate capacity or version selection is required.
