Smart Curtain Opener for U Rails

The SwitchBot Curtain 3 attaches to existing U-shaped curtain rails without tools or curtain replacement. It suits bedrooms, living rooms, offices and nurseries where automated light control is wanted. Installation takes three steps: hang the unit, fit the positioning magnets, then pair with the app. The device weighs 280 grams and measures 78 × 71 × 205 mm.

Upgrade from Manual or First-Gen Units

This model delivers over twice the thrust of the previous generation, moving curtains up to 16 kg smoothly. The upgraded motor and included positioning magnet remove the need for repeated calibration and stop light leakage at the edges. Silent Mode runs the motor below 25 dB for slower, quieter operation that suits light sleepers. Buyers who need to move curtains heavier than 35 lb will find the limit restrictive.

Bluetooth Control with Optional Hub

The opener connects to the SwitchBot app via Bluetooth for scheduling, percentage opening and direct control. Adding a SwitchBot Hub enables voice commands through Alexa, Google Home, SmartThings, Siri Shortcuts and IFTTT. Matter support allows Apple Home, HomePod Mini and Apple Watch control. The unit fits only U rails with A > 0.41 in, B > 0.14 in, 0.12 in < C < 0.39 in and H < 0.14 in; it will not work on circular rods.

Questions about this item

What U-rail dimensions does the SwitchBot Curtain 3 require to fit?

It fits U-rails where A exceeds .41 inches, B exceeds .14 inches, C is between .12 and .39 inches, and H is below .14 inches. Circular rods are not supported.

Which step in the three-step install do users most often miss?

After hanging the unit, the positioning magnets must be installed; skipping them prevents precise calibration and can cause light leakage.

What maintenance will the built-in 18650 lithium-ion battery need later?

The battery is rechargeable via USB-C; when runtime drops noticeably, recharge it rather than replacing the cell.
