Sony ALC-SH143 Lens Hood

Photographers Using the Planar T* FE 50mm f/1.4 ZA

This hood suits owners of the Planar T* FE 50mm f/1.4 ZA who want to reduce flare and ghosting in stills or video. Shooters using other focal lengths or lens models cannot mount this accessory due to its specific bayonet fitting and 50mm design.

Flare Control and Physical Profile

The hood measures 3.6 by 2.3 inches and weighs 1.16 ounces, adding minimal bulk to the 50mm prime. It comfortably handles bright side-lighting and backlighting situations where extraneous rays cause contrast loss, though it offers no protection against direct impact or weather sealing beyond shading the front element.

Questions about this item

Will the ALC-SH143 fit my Planar T* FE 50mm f/1.4 ZA lens?

Yes, the hood is designed specifically for that lens and attaches via the bayonet mount on the front barrel.

Can I keep my existing front filter on the lens while using this hood?

The hood mounts to the lens barrel itself, so a filter already threaded on the front will not interfere with attachment.

How do I confirm the hood is seated correctly after mounting?

Rotate the hood until it clicks into the bayonet lock; the petal shape should align with the top and bottom of the frame.
