Compact zoom for APS-C Sony E-mount

The Sony E PZ 16-50mm f/3.5-5.6 OSS lens is a retractable power-zoom lens built for APS-C E-mount bodies. It covers a 24-75mm equivalent focal range from wide angle to portrait length. When powered off the barrel retracts to 30mm, making it small enough for a jacket pocket. Optical SteadyShot stabilisation helps reduce blur during handheld shooting.

Replaces fixed focal-length kit lenses

Photographers moving up from a single prime or a non-retractable kit zoom gain versatile framing without carrying multiple lenses. The internal stepping motor delivers fast, quiet autofocus suited to video work. The jump is worth it when you want a single lens that stays compact in a bag yet extends to 75mm equivalent for portraits or detail shots.

Simple attachment with included accessories

The lens mounts directly on any Sony E-mount camera; no adapter is required. The bundle supplies a 40.5mm filter set, blower, cleaning kit and a cap keeper that prevents the front cap from being lost. The main installation issue is forgetting to power the camera on so the lens extends before shooting.

Questions about this item

What filter-thread size does the 16-50mm lens need for the included UV, CPL and FLD filters?

The kit supplies 40.5 mm filters that screw directly onto the lens front thread.

How do I attach this E-mount zoom to my Sony NEX or Alpha body without forcing the bayonet?

Align the white mounting index on the lens barrel with the matching mark on the camera, then twist clockwise until it clicks.

When should I replace the blower and cleaning cloths from the starter kit?

Swap the blower if the nozzle cracks or loses suction, and replace cloths once they hold grit that could scratch the 40.5 mm glass.
