Purpose and Fit

The Sony SEL35F18 is a 35 mm f/1.8 prime lens designed for Sony E-mount APS-C cameras. It provides a 52.5 mm equivalent field of view, placing it in the normal focal-length range for everyday photography.

Build Integration

The lens mounts directly to any Sony E-mount body without an adapter. Its compact barrel measures 2.48" x 1.77" and weighs 5.47 oz, adding minimal bulk to a mirrorless kit. Optical SteadyShot stabilization is built in, so the lens supplies shake reduction even on camera bodies that lack in-body stabilization. A 49 mm filter thread accepts standard circular filters, and the internal-focus design keeps the front element stationary during focusing.

Ideal User and Limits

This lens suits photographers who want a lightweight, fast-aperture prime for low-light work, shallow depth of field and general-purpose shooting on an APS-C E-mount system. It is not for users who need zoom versatility, a wider maximum aperture than f/1.8, full-frame coverage, a focus-distance scale, weather sealing or a minimum focus distance shorter than 12 inches.
