Medium Telephoto Macro Lens

The Sony SEL90M28G is a full-frame E-mount lens built for 1:1 magnification macro work. Its 90 mm focal length and f/2.8 maximum aperture suit product, nature and portrait photographers who need close focus with working distance.

1:1 Magnification at 28 cm

The lens focuses to 28 cm for true life-size reproduction without extension tubes. A floating focus mechanism suppresses aberration across the entire range while the 9-blade circular aperture produces the smooth bokeh expected from G series optics.

Direct Drive SSM and OSS

Direct Drive Super Sonic Wave motor delivers quiet, precise autofocus and full-time manual override. Built-in Optical SteadyShot stabilisation helps handheld shooting at high magnification. The 62 mm filter thread accepts standard accessories and the package includes hood, caps and case.

Questions about this item

What does 1:1 magnification at 90 mm actually give me in the field?

You can fill the frame with a subject the same size as the sensor, reaching true life-size reproduction from 28 cm.

How does the Sony E mount and f/2.8 aperture limit depth of field and light gathering?

The E mount covers full frame and APS-C; at f/2.8 you get the widest aperture, stopping down to f/22 for maximum depth.

What filter thread and hood does the lens need to fit?

It takes 62 mm filters and ships with the ALC-SH138 hood that locks onto the front barrel.
