Fixture Wire 16 AWG Green 500 ft

Southwire 27036301 is a TFFN fixture wire with a 16 AWG stranded copper conductor. The green PVC insulation is protected by a nylon jacket rated for 600V AC. It ships on a 500 ft spool for branch-circuit and fixture wiring.

Replaces older solid-conductor fixture wire

The 26-strand construction makes pulling through conduit easier than solid alternatives. The jump is worth it when installers need flexible leads for tight bends or frequent vibration in lighting fixtures and control circuits.

Limited to 600V AC and 0.1 in outside diameter

The nominal 0.1 in diameter fits standard knockout sizes but restricts ampacity to lighting and control loads. The nylon jacket resists oil and gasoline yet the wire is not rated for direct burial or wet locations.

Questions about this item

What conduit size does the 0.1 in outside diameter wire need?

The wire has a nominal outside diameter of 0.1 in, so select conduit with an inside diameter larger than that for proper fill and pulling clearance.

How do you strip the PVC insulation without nicking the 26-strand conductor?

Use a stripper sized for 16 AWG stranded wire, score the PVC jacket cleanly, and pull straight off to avoid cutting any of the 26 strands.

When should the nylon-jacketed wire be replaced if the green colour fades?

Replace the wire if the green nylon jacket shows cracking, brittleness, or colour loss that indicates UV or chemical degradation, as the jacket protects the 600V PVC insulation.
