18 AWG Machine Tool Wire

This 18 AWG stranded wire is built for machine tool wiring and internal appliance connections. The PVC insulation carries UL 1015, 1019 and 1020 ratings for 600 V service. It is supplied in a 500 ft length with a purple jacket for circuit identification.

Stranded construction under load

The 16 x 30 stranding keeps the conductor flexible during repeated movement and vibration. PVC insulation maintains its properties up to a 194 Degrees F temperature rating. The 0.11 in nominal outside diameter allows routing through tight raceways without excessive force.

600 V PVC insulation limits

The UL-listed PVC jacket is rated for 600 V and 194 Degrees F in dry locations. It is not rated for continuous immersion, direct burial or exposure to oils and solvents beyond the standard test conditions. Installers must follow applicable code for conduit fill and ampacity derating.

Questions about this item

Will the PVC insulation on this 18 AWG wire handle continuous 194 °F heat without melting?

Yes, the PVC jacket is rated for 194 °F continuous operation, so it will not soften or melt at that temperature.

Do I need crimp terminals rated for 16 x 30 stranding to make reliable connections?

Use terminals or connectors listed for 18 AWG stranded wire; the 16 x 30 construction is standard for this gauge and works with common crimp or screw terminals.

Can I pull this 500 ft spool through conduit already holding 600 V THHN conductors?

The wire carries UL 1015, 1019 and 1020 ratings at 600 V, so it is approved for the same voltage class as THHN in shared raceways.
