Pendant Woofer for Distributed Audio

The Speco SP30PT is a 5.25-inch pendant woofer designed for 70/25V and 8-ohm distributed audio systems. It delivers 30 watts RMS output for background music and paging in commercial ceilings. The hanging format suits open-structure spaces where surface mounting is not practical. It targets installers needing a single-driver overhead solution.

Verify Amplifier Compatibility and Wiring

Confirm your amplifier provides a 70-volt, 25-volt, or 8-ohm output matching the speaker’s transformer taps. Ensure the cable run supports the selected tap impedance and power level. The unit requires a corded electric connection to the amplifier; no internal power supply is present. Check that the ceiling structure can bear the hanging hardware safely.

Steel Enclosure with Chain Suspension

The enclosure measures 10.5 by 10.5 by 7.5 inches and weighs 5 pounds, built from painted steel for indoor durability. A mounted chain hangs the speaker from structural points without a separate canopy kit. The bottom-firing driver disperses sound downward through the grille. Wiring accesses via a knock-out for conduit or cable entry.

Questions about this item

Does the SP30PT pendant speaker include the mounting chain, or must it be purchased separately?

The supplier title lists the SP30PT with chain included, so the hanging hardware ships in the box.

Should I choose the 70 V, 25 V or 8 Ω tap for a distributed ceiling system?

The speaker provides 70 V, 25 V and 8 Ω taps; select the tap that matches your amplifier output and total load.

What does the 30 W RMS rating mean once the speaker is installed in a ceiling?

It indicates the continuous power the 5.25 in woofer can handle without distortion when driven at the selected tap.
