Ground Loop Isolator with Video Balun

The SPECO TECHNOLOGIES VIDGL eliminates ground-loop interference for video surveillance cameras. It combines an isolator and a passive video balun in a single compact unit. The device accepts one camera input via BNC female and outputs to BNC male with short integrated cables. It is built for harsh-environment installations where signal integrity matters.

BNC Connection and Passive Operation

The unit connects inline between a camera and a DVR or monitor using standard BNC connectors on mini cables. No external power supply is required because the balun operates passively. This simplifies wiring in conduit or junction boxes and frees up a power outlet at the camera end. The hook-and-loop closure secures the enclosure in vibration-prone locations.

Transmission Distance Under Continuous Use

The isolator transmits full-motion monochrome video up to 900 feet and colour video up to 980 feet over twisted-pair cabling. Signal quality remains stable during sustained operation because the passive design adds no active components that can drift with temperature. Installers relying on longer runs or powered signal amplification will need a different solution.

Questions about this item

How far can the VIDGL transmit monochrome video before signal quality drops?

The VIDGL transmits full-motion monochrome video up to 900 feet over standard coaxial cable.

Does the unit generate noticeable heat or noise when powering cameras continuously?

The passive isolator has no active electronics, so it produces no heat or audible noise during all-day operation.

What cable type must already be in place for the BNC connections to work?

The VIDGL requires existing coaxial cable with BNC terminations on both the camera and recorder ends.
