All-in-one payment terminal
The Square Terminal A-SKU-0584 is a white handheld card reader that processes chip cards, contactless taps and swipes in a single device. It includes a built-in thermal printer for instant receipts and operates cordlessly on an internal battery. The unit is designed for countertop use and connects via Wi-Fi or Ethernet with an optional hub.
Connectivity and offline limits
The terminal requires a separate hub to access a wired Ethernet connection, so wireless is the default link. Payments can be accepted offline for up to 24 hours when the internet is unavailable, after which a connection must be restored. The device has no web browser and does not support third-party applications, restricting it to core payment functions.
Build and daily implications
A compact cordless body lets staff carry the reader around a counter or bring it to a customer without cables. The integrated printer accepts standard 2.25 inch by 50 foot thermal paper rolls for straightforward refills. Battery life is rated for all-day operation on a single charge, supporting continuous service during business hours.
