Starrett 1-1/2 in Bi-Metal Hole Saw

This Starrett DCH0112-G hole saw cuts a 1-1/2 inch or 38 mm diameter hole. The bi-metal construction handles general purpose cutting in metal, wood and plastic. It is built for trade use where clean, repeatable holes are required.

Suited for electricians.

Workers needing an impact-rated hole saw or a carbide-tipped design for abrasive materials should look elsewhere. This model is not impact rated and uses standard bi-metal teeth rather than specialised carbide geometry.

38 mm cutting diameter

The saw produces a 38 mm hole, so match this size to your conduit, pipe or hardware specification before purchasing. If the project demands a different diameter, select the corresponding saw from the same range.

Questions about this item

How often will the bi-metal teeth on this 38 mm hole saw need replacing when cutting metal?

Tooth life depends on the material thickness and cutting speed; using cutting fluid and the correct RPM extends the interval between replacements.

What stops the 1-1/2 inch saw from cutting deeper during a long job?

The saw’s cutting depth is fixed by its cup height; once the cup is full of chips the saw binds and must be cleared before continuing.

Does the 38 mm hole saw generate much heat or vibration during continuous drilling?

Bi-metal construction dissipates heat better than high-speed steel alone, and the variable-pitch teeth reduce vibration during extended use.
