Eight brass drive pin punches, four inches long, with sizes stamped on the head for quick identification
The Starrett SB565Z set supplies eight brass drive pin punches, each 4 in. long, for driving pins and aligning components without marring finished surfaces. Sizes are stamped on the head for quick selection, and the one-piece brass construction resists deformation during repeated use. Standard tethering capability lets you secure the tools when working at height or in confined areas.
Maintenance technicians, gunsmiths and assembly workers who must protect soft metals, polymer frames or finished parts will appreciate the brass material. Workers who require hardened steel punches for driving into tough alloy steels or breaking frozen fasteners should choose a steel punch set instead.
The set covers 1/16 in. through 7/32 in. in eight increments, all in a uniform 4 in. length. Brass construction and stamped head markings are the defining specifications that determine whether this kit matches the application.

Start the pin with a drift or starter punch slightly larger than the pin diameter, then drive it out using the matching 1/16, 3/32, 1/8, 5/32, 3/16, 7/32, 1/4 or 5/16 in brass punch from the set.
Brass is softer than steel, so the tips will mushroom faster; use a brass or dead-blow hammer, or accept more frequent re-dressing of the punch heads.
Measure the tip diameter with a caliper or micrometer and compare it to the stamped size — 1/16, 3/32, 1/8, 5/32, 3/16, 7/32, 1/4 or 5/16 in — to verify the correct punch is in hand.
