Compact USB-C dock with dual 4K video

The StarTech 102B-USBC-MULTIPORT turns a single USB-C or Thunderbolt port into a seven-port workstation. It drives two HDMI 2.0 displays at 4K 60Hz via a DisplayLink DL-6950 controller, adds a 10Gbps USB-A and USB-C hub, a UHS-II SD 4.0 reader up to 160MB/s, and Gigabit Ethernet. The 22-inch cable keeps the unit close to the laptop, suiting mobile professionals and hot-desk users.

Included accessories extend connectivity and power

The dock bundles a 55cm tethered USB-C cable and relies on the host or an external USB-C power adapter for operation. Its 100W Power Delivery 3.0 pass-through reserves 18W for the adapter itself, delivering up to 82W to the laptop while preventing video flicker or device drop-outs. The USB-A port supplies 7.5W BC 1.2 fast charging for phones or accessories, and the USB-C data port adds a second 10Gbps link without needing a separate hub.

Check host video and power capabilities before

Dual 4K 60Hz output requires a DisplayLink-capable host; Apple M1 and M2 MacBooks support extended dual displays only through this technology. The dock draws 18W for its own circuitry, so the connected charger must exceed that figure to maintain laptop charging. Systems limited to single-stream video or lacking USB-C Alt Mode will not drive both HDMI ports at the rated resolution. Buyers needing more than two video outputs or higher than 10Gbps USB throughput should look elsewhere.
