4K 60Hz HDMI Extender over CAT5e/6
This StarTech.com 4K70IC-EXTEND-HDMI kit transmits 4K 60Hz video and 7.1-channel audio up to 70 metres over a single Category 5e or 6 cable. The transmitter and receiver units form a complete point-to-point link with zero latency and HDCP 2.2 compliance. Power-over-Cable supplies the remote unit from the local power adapter, removing the need for a second outlet. Installation is driver-free and includes IR extension for remote source control.
Integrators needing long 4K runs without fibre
The extender suits digital-signage deployments in malls, stadiums or hospitals where a 230-foot CAT5e/6 run replaces costly HDMI cable. It also fits home-theatre installs that must bridge rooms without an equipment rack nearby. Users who require distances beyond 70 metres, fibre-based transmission, or HDMI 2.1 features such as 4K 120Hz should evaluate alternative technologies.
Handles 4K 60Hz 4:4:4 and common lower resolutions
Supported modes include 3840×2160 at 60 Hz, 2560×1600 at 60 Hz, 1920×1200 at 60 Hz, 1080p and 720p. The local HDMI loop-through allows a second display or cascaded extenders for longer chains. Bandwidth tops out at the HDMI 2.0 limit, so 4K 120 Hz, 8K or variable-refresh-rate signals will not pass.
