Metered 1U Rack PDU

The StarTech 8NM8-RACK-MOUNT-PDU is a horizontal 1U power distribution unit designed for server racks and network cabinets. It provides eight NEMA 5-15R outlets fed from a single NEMA 5-15P input with an eight-foot cord. A backlit LCD shows real-time volts, amps, watts and power factor for the whole strip.

Build Integration

The unit mounts in a standard 1U horizontal slot and draws 125 V at up to 15 A from a wall receptacle or upstream UPS. Eight front-facing outlets free rear-panel space on patch panels and switches while the integrated resettable breaker protects downstream gear. No external monitoring software is required because the LCD is self-contained.

Sustained Load Behaviour

Under continuous operation the metered display lets operators track aggregate current against the 15 A limit before the breaker trips. Surge protection uses self-tripping MOVs that sacrifice themselves once, so the indicator LED must be checked after any transient event. The cord length of 2.4 m reaches most floor-mounted sources without strain.
