Desktop USB 3.0 extension

This 5 ft black cable extends a USB-A female port up to five feet from the computer case. It uses a male-to-female layout so existing peripherals plug straight in. The design targets desktop users who need flexible port placement without opening the chassis.

5 Gbps SuperSpeed rating

The cable is built to the USB 3.0 specification and carries a 5 Gbps signalling rate. Shielded twisted-pair construction reduces electromagnetic interference for reliable data transfer. It remains backward compatible with USB 2.0 hosts and devices.

Sustained desktop use

Shielded twisted-pair wiring maintains signal integrity during long file transfers to external drives or cameras. The fixed 5 ft length avoids the signal loss that can appear with daisy-chained extensions. Build quality is rated for repeated connect and disconnect cycles at the desktop.

Questions about this item

What does the 5Gbps rating mean when the cable is plugged into a real computer?

The 5Gbps rating is the theoretical maximum of the USB 3.0 link; actual throughput depends on the host controller, the connected device and cable quality, so real-world speeds are usually lower.

Which USB standard does the male-to-female connection use and what does that limit?

It uses the USB 3.0 interface with a Standard-A male plug and Standard-A female receptacle, capping the link at 5Gbps and remaining backward compatible with USB 2.0 devices.

What physical space or mounting does the 5ft black cable need on a desktop?

The 5ft length lets you route the cable from the rear USB port to a convenient spot on the desk; no brackets or mounts are required, just a free Standard-A port on the computer.
