Converts copper Gigabit Ethernet to single-mode LC fibre for links up to 10 km
Type 10km
The STARTECH ET91000SM10 converts a 1000 Mbps copper Ethernet link to single-mode LC fiber, extending the connection up to 10 km (6.2 mi). It is aimed at network administrators and installers who need to bridge buildings or distant cabinets without deploying active switches at every endpoint. A universal AC adapter is included for standalone operation. The rugged metal housing suits commercial environments.
The converter operates at a 1310 nm wavelength and supports jumbo frames, link-fault pass-through and automatic laser shutdown for safe fiber handling. It comfortably handles full Gigabit throughput across the 10 km distance. Beyond that range the optical budget is exceeded and signal integrity cannot be guaranteed. The unit draws up to 19.2 W from the supplied adapter.
The device measures 6.40" x 3.50" x .90" and weighs .91 lb, fitting on a desk, DIN rail or wall bracket. It can also slide into the optional ETCHS2U rackmount chassis for high-density installations. No software configuration is required; status LEDs report power, fiber link, copper link and duplex mode at a glance. The package includes the converter, a multi-region power adapter and an instruction manual.

Other versions of this model
Yes, the RJ45 port on the ET91000SM10 connects directly to a Gigabit Ethernet switch using standard copper cabling, while the LC port extends the link up to 10 km over single-mode fiber.
The PWR LED shows power is present, the LINK LED on the RJ45 port confirms a copper connection, and the LFP and RPF LEDs indicate the fiber link is active and receiving signal at 1310 nm.
The box contains the media converter, a universal AC power adapter for NA, EU, UK and AU outlets, and an instruction manual; single-mode LC fiber patch cables must be purchased separately.
