Dual-bay dock clones 2.5 or 3.5 inch SATA drives standalone at 22 GB/min, then connects via USB 3.0 or eSATA for host access
Number of Bay 1:1
Size USB 3.0 / eSATA
This StarTech.com dock duplicates one 2.5 or 3.5 inch SATA drive to another without a host computer. It also functions as a dual-bay USB 3.0 or eSATA enclosure for direct drive access. The JMicron JM562 chipset supports SATA III 6 Gbps and UASP for faster transfers. Ideal for IT technicians creating identical system images or backing up workstation drives.
Best for users who need sector-by-sector cloning offline and occasional hot-swap access over USB 3.0 or eSATA. Not suited for workflows requiring more than two simultaneous drive bays. Not suited for environments that rely on interfaces other than SATA, USB 3.0 or eSATA. The dock operates standalone for cloning, then connects to Windows, macOS, Linux or Chrome OS hosts for file access.
The key specification is the standalone duplication rate of 22 GB per minute, which determines how long a full drive copy takes. Each bay accepts drives tested up to 4 TB for 3.5 inch 7200 RPM models and 2 TB for 2.5 inch 5900 RPM models. The package includes USB 3.0 cable, eSATA cable, universal power adapter and manual.

Other versions of this model
Slide the drive into a bay until the SATA data and power combo connector seats fully; the step often missed is connecting the universal power adapter before pressing the clone button.
The USB 3.0 cable, eSATA cable, or universal power adapter may wear out and need replacing; the dock itself has no moving parts or user-serviceable components.
The source or target drive's own sustained transfer rate and thermal throttling will limit actual throughput before the JMicron JM562 chipset or SATA 6 Gbps interface does.
