HDBaseT Extender Kit

The StarTech.com ST121HDBTL extends HDMI, IR and RS-232 signals over a single CAT5e or CAT6 cable. It includes a transmitter, a receiver, a universal power adapter and mounting hardware for professional installation. The kit supports 7.1 surround sound and analogue audio via 3.5 mm jacks on both units. Status LEDs on each unit provide link confirmation at a glance.

Single-Cable Distance Limits

Video travels up to 35 metres at 4096 x 2160 (4K) 30 Hz or 70 metres at 1920 x 1080 (1080p) 60 Hz over CAT5e UTP or better. The HDBaseT certified link carries power, video, IR and serial control together without extra cabling. Maximum reach is 100 metres for lower resolutions. Performance drops if cable quality or length exceeds the stated thresholds.

4K and 1080p Headroom

The extender comfortably handles 4K at 30 Hz within 35 metres and 1080p at 60 Hz within 70 metres. Beyond those distances the 4K signal is not supported and 1080p may degrade. It does not serve applications needing 4K at 60 Hz or runs longer than 100 metres. Buyers requiring higher 4K frame rates or fibre-length runs should consider alternative technologies.
