Wireless 4K 60Hz HDMI Extender Kit

The STARTECH ST121WHDS2 kit wirelessly transmits 4K video at 60Hz from an HDMI source to a display up to 165 feet away. A 5GHz point-to-point link operates without line of sight, so the transmitter and receiver can sit in separate rooms or inside cabinets. The transmitter also provides a local HDMI output for a second screen. Up to four kits can operate simultaneously in the same area.

Range, bandwidth and interference limits

The extender supports HDMI 2.1 TMDS with 18Gbps bandwidth and HDCP 1.4/2.2 compliance for protected content. Audio Return Channel (ARC) and 2.1 channel audio pass through the link. Because the system uses a dedicated 5GHz connection, it avoids the congested 2.4GHz band, but thick walls or heavy RF noise can still reduce the practical range below the rated 50 metres.

Replaces long HDMI cables and IP-based extenders

This kit removes the need for costly in-wall HDMI runs or Ethernet-based AV extenders that require network configuration. The jump is worthwhile when cable routing is impractical, when a local confidence monitor is needed, or when IR control must reach a hidden source device. It is not suited for installations that demand uncompressed bandwidth beyond 18Gbps or distances exceeding 165 feet.
