Cable for Micro USB devices

The StarTech USBAUB2MU is a two-metre USB cable with a Type A male plug on one end and an up-angle Micro USB B male plug on the other. It is intended for charging or syncing smartphones, tablets, cameras and other devices that use the Micro USB B port. The black jacket and moulded strain relief suit everyday desktop or travel use.

Up-angle Micro USB B connector

The decisive detail is the upward-angled Micro USB B head, which routes the cable away from the device edge so it does not press against a desk, mount or hand during use. The cable supports high-speed data transfer rates of up to 480 Mbps and uses aluminium-Mylar foil with braided shielding to reduce interference.

Fits standard USB A ports

Plug the Type A end into any USB A port on a computer, wall charger or power bank; no driver or special port is required. The 6.56 ft length gives slack for routing behind monitors or across a bench while the angled tail keeps the device port clear for protective cases or tight mounting brackets.

Questions about this item

Will the 480 Mbps rating still hold when the cable is plugged into a standard USB port?

The cable is built to the USB 2.0 high-speed specification, so any USB 2.0 or newer port will carry data at up to 480 Mbps; older USB 1.1 ports will fall back to their lower speed.

What does the up-angle Micro-B connector change about how the cable sits?

The up-angle Micro-B plug bends the cable upward at the device end, keeping the lead clear of tight spaces or desk edges where a straight plug would be cramped.

How much reach does the 6.56 ft length give in a typical setup?

At 6.56 ft the cable spans from a rear-panel USB port on a floor-standing tower to a device on a desk, or across a standard workbench, without pulling taut.
