Compact 84-key Layout

The SteelSeries Apex 7 is a tenkeyless mechanical gaming keyboard built on an aircraft-grade aluminum alloy frame. It uses Red linear switches rated for 50 million keypresses and features per-key RGB illumination with 16.8 million colour options. An integrated OLED smart display provides on-the-fly information from games, Spotify and Discord.

Competitive Gamers Seeking Minimal Desk Footprint

The 84-key form factor saves space for mouse movement while retaining dedicated media controls, a volume roller and USB passthrough. A premium magnetic wrist rest adds full palm support. Buyers who require a dedicated numpad, macro keys or wireless connectivity will not find those features here.

Red Linear Switches Guaranteed for 50 Million

These switches deliver consistently smooth actuation without a tactile bump, suited for rapid repeated inputs. The rating indicates long-term durability for high-volume use. If a tactile or clicky feel is preferred, this switch type will not match that requirement.

Questions about this item

How long before the Red mechanical switches reach their rated lifespan?

The Red switches are guaranteed for 50 million keypresses per key, so replacement depends entirely on how heavily you type or game each day.

What is the first limit you hit during extended gaming sessions?

With 84-key n-key rollover every simultaneous press registers, so the practical limit is the 50 million press switch rating rather than key-blocking.

How much heat or noise does the keyboard produce when used all day?

The keyboard draws power over USB and has no active cooling, so it stays silent and generates only negligible warmth during continuous operation.
