104-key full-size esports keyboard

The SteelSeries Apex Pro Gen 3 is a wired gaming keyboard built for competitive players who need per-key actuation control. Its OmniPoint 3.0 Hall Effect switches adjust from 0.1 to 4.0 mm and deliver a 0.7 ms Rapid Trigger response. The standard layout includes a dedicated numpad for both tournament play and daily productivity.

Aircraft-grade aluminum frame

A one-piece metal top plate provides structural rigidity while triple-layer dampening foam reduces acoustic resonance. Double-shot PBT keycaps resist shine and the detachable wrist rest attaches magnetically for quick removal. Three-way cable routing lets the braided USB Type-C lead exit left, right or centre to suit desk layout.

Upgrades from fixed-actuation mechanical keyboards

The adjustable actuation points replace the single preset travel of traditional linear switches, letting each key match a specific game or typing style. Protection Mode prevents accidental presses during fast movement, a benefit absent on standard boards. Five on-board profiles store the configuration without software, making the jump worthwhile for players who switch titles frequently.

Questions about this item

What does the USB 2.0 interface limit for this keyboard?

The USB 2.0 connection provides standard data throughput for the keyboard's input signals, OLED display updates and PrismSync RGB lighting control without needing additional drivers.

What physical space does the 17.19 by 5.48 inch frame with detachable wrist rest need on a desk?

The keyboard measures 17.19 inches wide by 5.48 inches deep and 1.59 inches tall; the magnetic wrist rest adds extra depth when attached, and three-level tilt feet increase the rear height.

How do I install the keyboard and what step is often missed?

Plug the detachable braided USB Type-C cable into the keyboard and a USB 2.0 port, attach the magnetic wrist rest if desired, then use the OLED menu or SteelSeries GG software to set per-key actuation between 0.1 and 4.0 mm — many users skip this actuation setup.
