Compact 60% Layout

The SteelSeries Apex Pro Mini 64820 is a wired gaming keyboard built around a compact 60 percent form factor that saves desk space and leaves more room for mouse movement. It connects through a detachable USB Type-C cable and works with Windows, macOS, Xbox and PlayStation, though not all software features are supported on Mac OS. Per-key RGB illumination and double-shot PBT keycaps provide a durable, textured surface for extended use.

Adjustable OmniPoint 2.0 Switches

OmniPoint 2.0 adjustable switches deliver 11x faster response and 10x swifter actuation compared to standard mechanical designs. Each key can be tuned from a light 0.2mm actuation point to a deeper 3.8mm press, and two distinct actions can be programmed to the same key for layered commands. The switches are rated for 100 million presses, and a 32-bit ARM processor handles on-the-fly adjustments without latency.

Five On-Board Profiles

On-board memory stores up to five custom profiles, allowing the keyboard to retain actuation settings, key mappings and lighting without requiring the SteelSeries Engine software to be running. The companion software supports Windows 8.1 or newer and macOS 10.13 or newer for deeper configuration, but the core functionality travels with the keyboard across different systems. Builders who need a dedicated number pad or full-size navigation cluster will not find those keys on this layout.

Questions about this item

How much heat or noise does the OmniPoint 2.0 switches produce during all-day use?

The keyboard uses silent mechanical switches with no moving fans, so it adds no audible noise or measurable heat to your desk.

What must I already own to use the detachable USB-C cable and SteelSeries Engine software?

You need a free USB-A port and a system running Windows 8.1 or newer, or Mac OS X 10.13 or newer, to run the configuration software.

Will the 60% layout and side-printed functions work smoothly with my older full-size muscle memory?

The compact 60% design keeps every standard key in the same position; secondary functions are printed on the sides so you can reach them without relearning key locations.
