Tenkeyless adjustable mechanical keyboard

The SteelSeries Apex PRO TKL is a tenkeyless gaming keyboard that uses OmniPoint adjustable switches. Each key can be set to an actuation distance from 0.4 to 3.6 millimeter, letting users tune sensitivity for gaming or typing. It connects via USB and supports Windows and Mac OS. Dedicated media keys control volume, playback and brightness. An OLED smart display shows on-the-fly information from games and apps.

Thermals noise and power draw

The keyboard draws power directly from the USB connection and requires no external supply. It has no fans or moving cooling parts, so it runs silently during normal use. The aircraft-grade aluminium alloy frame adds rigidity without generating heat. RGB illumination at 16.8 million colours per key is the only active lighting element.

Upgrade path and when it matters

This board replaces a standard fixed-actuation mechanical keyboard for users who want per-key sensitivity adjustment. The jump is worth it for competitive players who need faster actuation or for typists who prefer a deeper press. It is not suited for buyers who require a dedicated numeric keypad or who prefer a wireless connection.

Questions about this item

How do I connect the Apex Pro TKL and set the OmniPoint switches to a specific actuation point like 0.4 mm?

Plug the USB cable into the computer, open SteelSeries GG software, select each key or a profile, and slide the actuation setting between 0.4 and 3.6 mm.

Which parts of the Apex Pro TKL will wear out first and need replacement?

The OmniPoint switches are rated for extended durability, the magnetic wrist rest may show surface wear over time, and keycaps can be swapped if legends fade.

At what actuation setting does the keyboard reach its fastest response during long gaming sessions?

The minimum 0.4 mm actuation point delivers the 8× faster response and 5× faster actuation figures quoted for sustained use.
