Esports TKL for Competitive Play

The SteelSeries Apex Pro TKL Gen 3 is an 87-key tenkeyless wired keyboard built for professional competitive players and power users. Its space-saving layout maximises desktop mouse movement area while retaining full premium functionality. OmniPoint 3.0 adjustable HyperMagnetic Hall Effect switches provide per-key actuation tuning and Rapid Trigger response. The design targets tournament-level performance and daily productivity in a compact form factor.

Thermals Noise and Power Draw

As a USB 2.0 wired peripheral, the keyboard draws minimal power directly from the host system with no external supply required. Solid-state magnetic switches generate no mechanical friction heat during operation. The aluminium top plate acts as a passive heat spreader for any minor warmth from the controller. Silent linear switch action and built-in sound dampening keep acoustic output low in normal use.

Build Quality and Connectivity

A one-piece aircraft-grade aluminium frame provides structural rigidity across the 13.99 by 5.05 by 1.65 inch chassis. Double-shot PBT keycaps resist shine and wear over a 100M keystroke lifespan. The detachable magnetic wrist rest attaches securely without tools. A detachable braided USB Type-C cable enables 3-way routing for flexible desk cable management. Five on-board memory profiles store lighting and actuation settings independently of software.

Questions about this item

How do I connect the detachable USB-C cable and which of the three routing channels should I use?

Plug the braided USB-C cable into the keyboard's port and route it through the left, centre or right channel on the underside; choose the channel that keeps the cable clear of your mousepad.

When will the double-shot PBT keycaps or OmniPoint 3.0 switches need replacing?

The switches are rated for 100 million keystrokes; PBT keycaps resist shine far longer than ABS, so neither should need replacement under normal use.

At what actuation point does the 0.7 ms Rapid Trigger response activate?

Rapid Trigger works at any per-key setting between 0.1 and 4.0 mm; the 0.7 ms latency is achieved across the entire adjustable range.
