277 V tankless heater for commercial indoor use

This Stiebel Eltron DHC 6-3 Classic unit is a new electric tankless water heater rated for 277 V AC single-phase supply. It is intended for commercial indoor installations where a compact footprint is required. The heater activates at a minimum flow of .48 gpm through a 1/2 in female NPT cold inlet.

Steady output at 6 kW continuous draw

Under sustained demand the heater delivers up to 130 Degrees F and draws 22 A at its 6,000 W rating. Because the thermostat is not adjustable, the outlet temperature is fixed by the incoming water temperature and flow rate. The minimum delivered temperature is 82 Degrees F when conditions allow.

Questions about this item

How much current does the 277 V heater draw when running continuously?

The unit draws 22 A at full power, so the circuit must be sized for that load during all-day use.

What inlet fitting does the 1/2 in NPT cold connection require?

It needs a 1/2 in male NPT thread on the supply line to mate with the female inlet on the heater.

Will the 0.48 gpm activation threshold work with older low-flow fixtures?

Yes, the heater activates at 0.48 gpm, which is low enough for many vintage faucets and shower heads.
