Strong Arm TW4000 12 V Electric Winch

This 12 V DC electric winch delivers a first-layer line speed of 4.4 fpm and a 3/8 hp motor. It uses a 324:1 spur gear ratio and a free-spooling clutch for manual lever control. The carbon steel body houses 20 ft of compatible web strap with an included wiring harness.

Suited for Light 12 V Pulling Tasks

Buyers needing a compact winch for occasional 12 V DC recovery or utility pulling will find the 500 lb first-layer capacity and 40 A maximum current suitable. Those requiring higher line speeds, greater load ratings, or longer continuous duty cycles should look at larger capacity alternatives.

324:1 Gear Ratio Defines Pulling Character

The 324:1 spur gear reduction determines the 4.4 fpm line speed and the mechanical advantage for the 500 lb rated pull. This fixed ratio means the winch trades speed for torque at the given motor output. Verify that this speed and force profile matches the specific application before purchase.

Questions about this item

How much current does the 12 V motor draw when the winch is pulling its 500 lb rated load all day?

The motor draws a maximum of 40 A at 12 V DC, so plan for that continuous current when sizing wiring and the power source.

What existing equipment is required for the winch to operate out of the box?

A 12 V DC power supply capable of 40 A and a secure mounting point are needed; the included wiring harness connects directly to the power source.

Will the 20 ft web strap on the drum work with the 54 ft capacity listed for 1/4 in line if I keep my older synthetic rope?

The drum holds up to 54 ft of 1/4 in line, so your existing rope will fit as long as its diameter does not exceed 1/4 in.
