Charger kit with eight AA cells

The Sunbeam BC-0903 kit includes a multi-voltage charger and eight Acculoop-X AA NiMH batteries rated at 2600 mAh and 1.2 V. The charger accepts 120 V to 240 V input at 50 or 60 Hz and can charge two or four AA or AAA cells simultaneously. It supports both NiMH and NiCd chemistries and includes a car cord and a USB cord for mobile or desktop power sources. Sustained charging behaviour

The charger delivers 12 V at 900 mA for AA cells and 500 mA for AAA cells, using negative delta V cut-off and a safety timer to stop charging when cells are full. Charge times range from 2 to 3.5 hours for AA capacities between 2100 and 2900 mAh, and 1.5 to 3 hours for AAA capacities between 700 and 1200 mAh. Over-current, short-circuit and reverse-polarity protection operate continuously, while a trickle-current mode maintains full charge if batteries remain seated. Defective or non-rechargeable cell detection prevents wasted cycles during extended use.

Upgrade path and limits

The kit replaces disposable alkaline AA batteries in devices that accept 1.2 V NiMH cells, offering up to 10 recharge cycles per cell. It is not suited for equipment requiring higher single-cell voltages or for users who need AAA batteries, as none are included. The charger handles only two or four cells at once, so larger fleets require multiple charging sessions. Buyers needing faster top-up times, greater simultaneous capacity or integrated USB device charging should look elsewhere.
