Shoe-Mount Flash for Nikon TTL and D-TTL Cameras

The SUNPAK PZ-40X II is a shoe-mount electronic flash designed for Nikon TTL and D-TTL digital and film cameras. It features a power zoom-bounce flash head covering 35mm focal lengths from 24 to 80mm. A large, full-info backlit LCD display allows controlling and monitoring settings. The unit has an ISO guide number of 102 at 50mm zoom setting.

Photographers Needing Dedicated Nikon TTL Flash

This flash suits photographers using Nikon film or digital bodies that support TTL or D-TTL metering and who want automatic zoom coverage linked to the lens. It is not for users of newer Nikon i-TTL-only cameras lacking backward compatibility or for shooters requiring wireless radio triggering built into the flash unit. Buyers needing a higher guide number for large venues should look elsewhere.

Runs on Two AA or NiMH Cells

The flash operates on two AA alkaline or NiMH rechargeable batteries, keeping power sources simple and widely available. Tilt positions range from 0 to straight up for bounce lighting flexibility. The silver and black finish matches classic Nikon aesthetics. No proprietary battery packs or external power connectors are included or required.

Questions about this item

Will this flash mount on my Nikon camera's hot shoe and communicate via TTL?

Yes, the PZ-40X II is a shoe-mount flash designed for Nikon TTL and D-TTL digital and film cameras, providing automatic exposure communication through the hot shoe.

Can I use this flash effectively with older Nikon film bodies that only support basic TTL?

The flash supports both D-TTL for digital cameras and standard TTL for film bodies, so it will work with older Nikon film cameras that use the original TTL metering system.

How can I verify the flash is zooming correctly to match my lens focal length?

The backlit LCD shows the current zoom setting; as you zoom a lens between 24 mm and 80 mm, the flash head automatically adjusts and the display updates to reflect the matched focal length.
