Adds dual-port 10GbE SFP+ connectivity via PCIe x8 using Intel 82599ES controller
The Supermicro AOC-STGN-I2SProduct is a plug-in card that adds two SFP+ ports to a PCI Express x8 slot. It targets data-centre operators and lab builders who need 10 Gbps links for virtualization, LAN or SAN traffic. The Intel 82599ES controller handles the physical layer and offloads processing from the host CPU.
Each port runs at 10 Gbps over 10GBase-X optics or direct-attach cables, giving full line-rate throughput for storage replication, backup windows or VM migration. The card saturates the PCIe x8 bus before the network fabric becomes a bottleneck, so additional bandwidth would require a wider slot or a second adapter.
The board measures 2.5 inches by 5.4 inches and fits a standard low-profile bracket, leaving adjacent slots free in 1U or 2U servers. It requires a PCIe x8 electrical connection and SFP+ transceivers or DACs purchased separately, while freeing onboard 1 GbE ports for management traffic.

The card uses a PCI Express x8 host interface and the Intel 82599ES controller; an x8 slot of any generation provides enough bandwidth for line-rate 10GbE traffic.
Check the switch or server management console — each SFP+ port should report a 10GBase-X link with the Intel 82599ES driver loaded and no errors.
Only the AOC-STGN-I2S plug-in card is included; compatible SFP+ modules and fibre or copper cables must be purchased separately.
