Dual-socket Xeon Scalable barebone

The Supermicro SYS-6029P-TRT is a 2U rackmount server barebone built around two LGA 3647 sockets for Intel Xeon Scalable processors. It targets organisations that need a dense compute platform for virtualization, data processing or cloud workloads and are prepared to supply their own CPUs, memory, storage and operating system. The integrated X11DPi-NT board provides the Intel C622 chipset and dual UPI links at up to 10.4 GT/s.

Redundant Titanium power and 10GbE networking

Two 1000W 80 PLUS Titanium certified supplies (96% efficiency) with PMBus deliver redundant power, keeping the system online if one unit fails. Network connectivity comes from dual Intel X722 controllers providing two 10GBase-T RJ45 ports plus a dedicated IPMI LAN port. Rear I/O also includes two USB 3.0 and two USB 2.0 ports. An Aspeed AST2500 BMC handles remote management.

Sixteen DIMM slots and eight hot-swap bays

Sixteen DDR4 slots support up to 2TB of ECC 3DS LRDIMM or 512GB of ECC RDIMM at speeds of 2666, 2400 or 2133 MHz, with Intel Optane Memory NVDIMM support. Storage capacity starts with eight hot-swap 3.5-inch SATA 600 bays and onboard RAID 0, 1, 5, 10; optional fixed 2.5-inch NVMe/SSD/HDD and M.2 devices can be added. Expansion uses four low-profile PCIe 3.0 x16 and two low-profile PCIe 3.0 x8 slots. Builders needing more than eight front drive bays or full-height add-in cards will need a different chassis.

Questions about this item

How do I replace a failed drive in the eight 3.5" hot-swap bays without shutting down?

Pull the failed drive from its front hot-swap tray while the system runs; the SATA backplane and RAID 0, 1, 5, 10 controller rebuild onto the new drive automatically.

What power draw stops me from adding more PCIe cards in the six low-profile slots?

Two 1000 W redundant Titanium supplies share the load; total draw must stay under 1000 W so CPUs, memory, drives and all cards remain powered if one supply fails.

How loud are the fans when both 205 W CPUs and all eight drives run continuously?

Redundant 1000 W Titanium units run at 96 % efficiency, cutting waste heat; BMC-controlled fans ramp only to the speed needed for the measured thermal load.
