Dual-socket barebone for dense storage

The Supermicro SYS-621C-TN12R is a 2U server barebone that holds two LGA-4677 Xeon processors and sixteen DDR5-4800 RDIMM slots. Twelve front bays accept 3.5-inch or 2.5-inch NVMe, SAS or SATA drives in any mix. Four PCIe 5.0 x16 slots plus two OCP 3.0 AIOM slots give room for GPU, storage or networking cards. It suits builders who need high drive count and dual-socket compute in a compact rack unit.

Replaces single-socket or smaller-bay chassis

Moving from a single-socket platform doubles thread count and memory channels while keeping the same rack height. The jump is worth it when workloads demand more than eight memory channels or when twelve hot-swap bays remove the need for external JBODs. Builders staying with fewer than eight drives or a single processor gain no advantage from the extra cost and power draw.

Standard rack-mount install with cable routing care

The chassis slides into a four-post rack using included rails; no special tools are required. CPUs, memory and drives install from the front and top without removing the board. The dense bay layout leaves little space for power cables, so route them before seating drives. AIOM cards must match the OCP 3.0 pin-out or they will not seat.
