Purpose and fit

This SuppliesMAX ribbon pack replaces Lexmark 1040995 and fits a long list of IBM 6400, 6404, 6405, 6408 and 6412 dot-matrix models plus several Interface Systems and Jacquard printers. It is built for businesses that run continuous forms, receipts or invoices on legacy impact hardware.

Interface reality

The ribbon works only with 9-pin or 24-pin dot-matrix mechanisms that accept the 1040995 cartridge form factor; it cannot be used in laser, inkjet or thermal printers. Print density and ribbon life depend entirely on the printer’s own hammer energy and advance mechanism, which vary across the compatible models.

Upgrade path

The six-pack replaces single OEM cartridges such as Lexmark 1040995, IBM InfoPrint 1040990 and Nashua 60204, cutting per-unit cost for high-volume sites. The jump makes sense when a department prints daily multipart forms and wants fewer change-outs; it does not suit users who need colour output or modern page-description languages.

Questions about this item

How do I know which pack size to choose for the Lexmark 1040995 ribbon?

This listing supplies a single six-pack of black ribbons; no alternative capacities are offered, so you order one pack and receive six ribbons.

What does the six-pack quantity mean for daily printing on an IBM 6400?

Each ribbon is a direct replacement for the Lexmark 1040995 cartridge, so the pack simply provides six individual ribbons to keep a high-volume dot-matrix printer running longer between orders.

Does the ribbon use a standard interface that fits the IBM 6400 series?

Yes, the cartridge is built to the original Lexmark 1040995 form factor and fits all listed IBM 6400, 6404, 6405, 6408 and 6412 models without adapters.
