Who this suits and who should look elsewhere

Buyers who need red ribbons for the listed Simplex time clock models will find a direct replacement here. Offices that require black ink, a different cartridge format, or ribbons for non-Simplex machines should look elsewhere. The pack contains six ribbons and is designed for 110V equipment sold in the U.S.

Critical spec: OEM part-number match

The decisive specification is compatibility with OEM part numbers 1406-9801R, 21090R and WIR021010R. If your time clock uses one of those part numbers, this six-pack will fit. If the machine calls for a different OEM number, this ribbon will not work.

Questions about this item

Which Simplex time-clock models accept the 1406-9801R red ribbon?

The ribbon fits Simplex 1602, Simplex 300, Simplex Patriot 1602-9801 and Simplex Patriot 300 time clocks.

Will the red ink work on a Patriot 300 that previously used a black ribbon?

Yes, the Patriot 300 accepts either colour; the red ribbon simply prints red characters instead of black.

How can I confirm the ribbon is feeding correctly after installation?

Run a test print — characters should appear sharp, evenly coloured red, with no smudging or skipped lines.
