Samsung 870 EVO SATA SSD

The Samsung 870 EVO is a 2.5 inch solid state drive using the SATA interface. It suits laptop and desktop owners who want faster boot and load times without changing motherboard slots. The drive drops into any standard 2.5 inch bay and works with existing migration software for a straightforward upgrade.

1 TB capacity with 560/530 MB/s sequential speeds

One terabyte provides room for operating systems, applications and large media libraries. Sequential reads reach 560 MB/s and writes 530 MB/s, saturating the SATA link for sustained transfers. The 2,400 TBW endurance rating supports heavy workloads such as 8K video editing. Random mixed workloads and very large single-file writes will hit the SATA bandwidth ceiling.

Replaces mechanical hard drives and older SATA SSDs

Swapping a spinning disk for this drive eliminates seek noise and cuts application launch times dramatically. Moving from an earlier SATA SSD yields higher sustained write speeds and greater write endurance. The upgrade is most worthwhile when the system lacks an M.2 slot or when cloning software simplicity is preferred.

Questions about this item

Will the 2.5" 870 EVO fit the same SATA bay and cables I already use with my older mechanical drive?

Yes, the 2.5 inch form factor uses the standard SATA connectors, so it drops into the same bay and works with the same cables as your existing drive.

How can I verify the 870 EVO is delivering the 560 MB/s read and 530 MB/s write speeds after installation?

Run a benchmark tool such as CrystalDiskMark on the new volume; sequential results should approach 560 MB/s read and 530 MB/s write when the SATA link is not bottlenecked.

Does the 870 EVO package include a cloning utility or mounting bracket, or must I source those separately?

The drive comes with Samsung migration software for cloning; a 2.5 to 3.5 inch bracket is not included and must be purchased separately if your bay requires it.
